Gower Christmas tree farm Santa’s grotto told it can stay open by Welsh Government

Posted by: admin , December 4, 2020

A popular Christmas grotto can stay open after fears it would have to close as part of tighter coronavirus restrictions being introduced to Wales on Friday.

The Santa’s grotto at Gower Fresh Christmas Trees, in Three Crosses, is a festive favourite for families and attracts plenty of visitors every year.

It includes polar bears relaxing in the snow, trees that spring into life and speak, elves busy making toys, a snow machine and, of course, Father Christmas and his (real life) reindeer.

But owner Robert Morgan initially raised concerns that the indoor attraction would have to shut this year, following the new Welsh Government restrictions that see indoor entertainment venues, like cinemas and bowling alleys, close completely from 6pm on Friday.

It has now been confirmed that the grotto will be able to go ahead after changes have been made in line with the new guidelines.

Sharing the news on social media, Mr Morgan wrote: “Thank you all for your patience regarding new regulations. We are glad to say we will remain open for now.

“As we are an event and have halved the numbers available to attend and now implemented changes with new guidelines.

“All ticket holders will receive guidance email shortly, on your visit please adhere to them as a lot of work by the council and ourselves has gone into this. You will keep us open.”

He added: “So happy that some children will meet Santa. Hoping we’re back to normal next year as had so many plans for this year where many more could have seen Santa.

“Thank you for all your patience and continued support. Sadly the event is now sold out.”

You can also pick your very own Christmas tree from the farm’s sprawling fields right up until Christmas Eve.

Every year the farm is also a popular spot for pumpkin picking, with thousands to choose from.
