All the planned roadworks and closures you need to be aware of in Swansea this week

If you’re out and about on the roads in Swansea this week, it may be worth taking a glance at this article first.

Motorists have been warned of roadworks and temporary road closures taking place across the city this week by Swansea Council, which has published a schedule of planned disruptions on its website.

The following is a breakdown of where you might want to avoid if possible on your travels over the next seven days, if you don’t want to face delays.

Tuesday, December 1

Ystrad Road junction Titanium Road to junction Bruse Road, Fforestfach

Planned ‘PATCH works’ will take place between 9.30am and 3pm from today for four days.

There will be temporary traffic lights in place and delays are expected.

Aylesbury Road, Brynmill

Aylesbury Road in Brynmill will be closed from today, for five days, or until the works are completed.

It is to allow Swansea Council to carry out resurfacing works.

It will be in a north easterly direction from its junction with Marlborough Road to its junction with Bernard Street, a distance of approximately 140 metres.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Marlborough Road and Bernard Street, a distance of approximately 230 metres.

Wednesday, December 2

A4118 entrance Stout Hall, Reynoldston

BT will be carrying out works to remove/ replace a telegraph pole.

It is expected the works will take two days, and delays are possible.

There will be temporary traffic lights in place.

Oakwood Road, Brynmill

There will be a two day closure of Oakwood Road to allow carriageway resurfacing to take place.

Diversion signs will be in place.

B4247 opposite Newton Lodge, Rhossili

BT also plans to remove/ replace a telegraph pole in this location.

The work will take two days, with delays possible and temporary traffic lights in place.

Thursday, December 3

King Edward’s Road, Brynmill

King Edward’s Road will be closed for carriageway resurfacing for two days.

There will be diversion signs in place.

Friday, December 4

B4436 Vennaway Lane junction Pennard Road, Pennard

There will be delays in Pennard as BT also removes and replaces a telegraph pole there.

A multi-phase temporary traffic light system will be operational, but the works are only expected to last one day.

B4593 Caswell Road junction St Peters Road, Newton

BT will be carrying out a ‘cable pull’ between 9.30am until 3pm, and the works are expected to last five days.

Delays are expected and there will be a multi-phase temporary traffic light system in place.

Monday, December 7

Pantycelyn Road, Townhill

Part of Pantycelyn Road in Townhill will be closed to allow Road Traffic Solutions to carry out telecommunication mast works on behalf of Vodafone.

It will be in a north westerly direction from its junction with Taliesyn Road to its junction with Townhill Road, a distance of approximately 660 metres.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Townhill Road, Dyfed Avenue and the unaffected section of Pany Y Celyn Road, a distance of approximately 1.7 kilometres.

This route will also operate in the opposite direction.

It is expected it will take five days to complete the works.
